Parent communication guidelines
We value open and respectful parent/carer communication, to support your child’s learning and engagement. The Department of Education has provided guidelines to help parents/carers understand the types of information they can expect to receive from state schools and appropriate contact channels. Find out more about these guidelines in Queensland state schools: https://education.qld.gov.au/parents-and-carers/positive-school-culture
Sensational Student Learning
I would like to acknowledge some sensational student learning this week. It is a pleasure to see the growth in our students across the semester and I know you must be proud of them as parents and carers.

Parking - yes again!
The majority of our parents are respectful and adhere to the road rules, signage and directions from our staff when necessary, in relation to parking and the Stop, Drop and Go zones in and around our school. For the minority - we ask that you consider your behaviour, how it impacts others and the message this gives your child.
The Kersley Road Stop, Drop and Go Zone is a 2 minute zone. In the afternoons, please consider picking your child/ren up at 3:05 or 3:10pm. It takes most children around 5 minutes to make their way from classrooms to the Stop Drop and Go Zone in the afternoons. This will assist with traffic flow on Kersley Road.
Some further tips for successful pick ups/drop offs:
Use Designated Zones Properly
- Always utilize the school's designated drop-off and pick-up areas.
- These zones are typically marked with signs like "2-minute parking" or "Passenger Loading Zone."
- Do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in these zones.
Stay in Your Vehicle
- Remain inside your car while in the drop-off or pick-up zone.
- If assistance is needed, ensure it's brief and do not walk away from your vehicle.
Keep the Line Moving
- Be prompt during drop-off and pick-up to avoid causing delays.
- If your child isn't ready, circle the block and rejoin the line.
Use the Safety Door
- Ensure children enter and exit the vehicle from the rear kerb-side door to avoid traffic hazards.
Avoid Double Parking or parking too far away from the kerb
- Never double park, as it obstructs traffic flow and endangers children.
Observe Parking Signs
- Adhere strictly to parking regulations around the school.
- Illegal parking can result in fines and compromises safety.
Be patient and kind!
Tour and Talk
All interested families are invited to our upcoming Tour and Talk on Thursday 5 June 9:30-10:30am. Please meet outside the Administration Building.

Under 8s Day Wrap Up

Last Friday’s Under 8s Day at Kenmore South was a huge success, with the perfect weather setting the scene for a fun and engaging morning of learning through play. This year’s theme, ‘Unleashing Scientific Thinking Through Play’, inspired a wide range of hands-on activities expertly planned by our hardworking and creative P–2 team—thank you for your incredible effort and organisation! We are also very grateful to our community partners who joined in the fun, especially Dr Christian Rowan, State Member for Moggill, for generously donating our spectacular Under 8s cake. This year we had our youngest Prep student Emily and our oldest student in Year 2, Sophia assist Dr Christian Rowan in cutting the cake.
A big thank you to our wonderful Adopt-a-Cop, Acting Sergeant Georgia Wheatley, for her ongoing support, and to the Pullenvale Fire Brigade, who delighted students with a visit from the fire truck—because it just wouldn’t be Under 8s Day without one! Thanks also goes to Amy Gomes from Ambulance Services Queensland who attended and intrigued our students with her ambulance visit. The morning was topped off with a delicious sausage sizzle thanks to Jess and the amazing team at PCYC. We’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration and can’t wait to discover what the new theme will be!
Regards,
Andrew
Enrol Now for Prep 2026
If you are an existing Kenmore South SS family, or live in our catchment, and have a child who will be getting ready to start Prep next year, it is important that the Enrolment Application and supporting paperwork is completed and submitted to admin@kenmoress.eq.edu.au as soon as possible. Once enrolment paperwork is submitted, we can ensure that all relevant communication and invitations for transition opportunities are received.
Click here for further information and documentation required to enrol at our school.
Out of catchment enrolments for 2026
As we are an enrolment managed school, we are able to take a limited amount of out of catchment enrolments each year. We are currently taking some applications for out-of-catchment enrolments and urge these families who are considering our school for 2026 to submit their application as soon as possible. Applications must be submitted via email to admin@kenmoress.eq.edu.au.

Moggill Marathon Success – Thank You!
A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to all the families who took part in the 2km and 5km Moggill Marathon! With around 20 families joining in, it was truly inspiring to see our community come together for a morning of fitness, fun, and fundraising.
The stunning weather set the perfect backdrop for the event, and the energy on the course was nothing short of fantastic. Your participation helped support Bravery Box in their mission to assist children with cancer, and together, we raised $175 for Kenmore South State School, contributing to valuable resources for our local students.
Your enthusiasm and generosity made this event a true success. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at future community events!

Chappy News

Chaplaincy Week: 1–8 June 2025
Chaplaincy Week is an annual event organised by our chaplaincy provider, SU Australia, to raise awareness about the valuable role school chaplains play in supporting students, families and staff.
It’s a time for our school community to come together to celebrate, appreciate and support the chaplaincy service at Kenmore South, which is available on Thursdays and Fridays.
What do school chaplains do?
School chaplains are part of the wellbeing team in schools, providing:
- A safe person for students to talk to
- Pastoral care for students facing challenges like friendship struggles, family issues, bullying or mental health concerns
- Support for staff and parents
- A listening ear and caring presence in times of crisis
Chappy Denise is employed by SU Australia, Australia’s largest school chaplaincy provider with a strong reputation for professionalism and care.
How is Chaplaincy Services Funded?
The National School Wellbeing Program (NSWP) provides some support, but it only covers part of the cost.
To keep chaplaincy sustainable at Kenmore South, we rely on community donations.
