Principal’s News
As we reach the end of Term 2, I just want to take a moment to say how proud we are of the students at Kenmore South. It’s been a busy, exciting, and sometimes challenging term. From Gala Days to Under 8s Day, we have received positive feedback about our students’ attitudes, behaviour and general application to the activities and learning they have been involved in.
We’ve seen so much growth in all our students and particularly our youngest students – our Preppies. Just after the holidays they will celebrate their 100 days of schooling, and we will acknowledge this in the second week back in Term 3. Whether it has been tackling tricky maths problems, writing narrative stories, or giving it their all in the Cross-Country and Winter Music Concert, our students have truly shone.
Some highlights this term included our Under 8s Day and our Senior Athletics Carnival. These moments remind us just how special our school community is.
Semester 1 Report Cards will be distributed on Friday of Week 1 next term.
We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break. Rest up, have fun, and we’ll see you all bright and ready for Term 3! School starts back on Monday 14 July.
Senior Years Deputy Principal News - Natalie Thomas
NAIDOC Week
We will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in the first week back of Term 3. On Friday 18 July Majeda Beatty will be performing for students to teach them about caring for Country and each other through music, movement, and humour. Please ensure that you have given consent for your student and paid for the incursion by tomorrow, Friday 27 June. A range of activities will be on offer to students throughout the week during class and lunchtimes to learn about our indigenous cultures.
Athletics Carnivals
A huge thank you to Mrs Kim Shields for her excellent organisation and preparation for the Senior Athletics Carnival last Wednesday. The weather was superb, the students tried their best and had a wonderful day. Please read the wrap up of the day in the Sports section. The Junior P-3 Athletics Day will be held next term on Friday 25 July (Week 2).

A Wonderful Week of Community and Celebration at Kenmore South
Dear Kenmore South families,
Last Thursday evening, our school community came together to celebrate our Winter Concert, and what a fantastic night it was! Our instrumental, band, and choir students put on an outstanding showcase of their talents, dedication, and teamwork. Everyone in attendance would agree it was a wonderful display that highlighted the strength and spirit of our music program.
A big thank you goes to our talented and dedicated Music Department staff—Mrs Lougheed, Mrs Conomos, and Mr McErlain, who were brilliantly supported by Mrs Riby and Mrs Mansfield, and accompanied by Mrs Robertson. We also extend our appreciation to our Music Captains, who did an excellent job MCing the evening and guiding the audience through the performances.
We are incredibly proud of the music and arts programs at Kenmore South. The quality and success of the Winter Concert truly reflect the value our school and wider community place on nurturing the creative talents of our students. We now look forward with excitement to the Summer Concert in Term 4 and can't wait to see how our students continue to progress.
Prep 2026 Information evening
On Tuesday evening, we also hosted our Prep 2026 Information Evening, and we were thrilled by the fantastic turnout from both new and current families. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to hear from staff and gain insights into what makes Kenmore South such a warm, engaging, and highly sought-after school in our area.
We now look ahead to the next stage of our Prep 2026 enrolment process, with confirmation of enrolments soon to be communicated to families. Prep Interviews will begin at the start of Term 4, marking the next exciting step in welcoming our new cohort.
Please continue to check our school Facebook page for the latest news and updates.
If you are fortunate to enjoy some time off over the school break, have a great holiday everyone!
Regards,
Andrew

- view upcoming events
- access and provide digital consent
- view and update attendance details (including future absences)
- view and pay invoices (only financial account holder can see)
- access payment history
- access report cards
Please see the QParent fact sheets for setup guides and information.

Author Visit – Dr Cameron Stelzer, The Story Doctor
On Monday 18 and Monday 25 August, we have a special visit from adventure author and illustrator Dr Cameron Stelzer. Dr Cameron is visiting Kenmore South SS to run engaging workshops with our P-6 cohorts. Classes will embark on a journey filled with epic quests and brave exploits that will ignite a love for reading and writing and spark boundless creativity in our primary students.
Prep students will enjoy an interactive epic Big Screen Book Reading adventure and follow-along drawing activity with Cameron. Adventure awaits Year 1-2 students as they explore inspiration and character development for adventure stories. Year 3-6 students will be taking a behind-the-scenes look at creating an illustrated adventure novel series and applying their own creative components. Students and teachers are looking forward to a grand literacy adventure!
In conjunction with the Author Visit, Kenmore South SS families have a special opportunity to purchase signed and personalised copies of Cameron’s books at special prices. Individual books are $10-$15 each and there are also exclusive book sets available. Students will receive an order form on the day of the workshops (payment is via the online payment portal listed on the form; no cash). Forms can be returned the following day, to the Office.

Many thanks,
Taylor Imhoff | Head of Department - Curriculum

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
The NCCD is a national collection of data about the adjustments that schools make for students. These adjustments can range from quality differentiation within the classroom by the teacher, to supplementary and extensive. The NCCD can also collect data about students with disability who are receiving adjustments across Australia in a consistent, reliable and systematic way. It enables schools, education authorities and governments to better understand the needs of students with disability and how they can be best supported at school.

Interhouse Sports Carnival Recap
We were incredibly fortunate to enjoy a continued run of good weather, delivering beautiful conditions throughout the day—clear skies, ideal temperatures, and gentle breezes. It truly set the stage for a joyful, high-energy carnival experience.
Well done to all students who jumped in and gave it their best to support their house and make the day memorable. Your house spirit is truly commended.
A huge thank you to all the parents who came out to cheer on our students. We especially appreciate the parents who stepped up to assist at the long jump when staffing was stretched. Your flexibility and support ensured the event ran smoothly and safely. We couldn’t have done it without you!

QA Schools Cross Country Relay Championships – A Mighty Effort by All!
Congratulations to our dedicated and determined runners who represented the school at the QA Schools Cross Country Relay Championships on Saturday, June 21. The day began with beautiful sunshine before soft showers settled in—pleasant conditions for running, but a little chilly once the finish line was crossed!
Our teams gave it their all and should be proud of their performances and sportsmanship throughout the event. The 10-year-old boys—Kazu O, Asher L, and Harry H—ran with grit and great team spirit. A special mention to the strong showing by Oscar G (10yrs) and Spike M (11yrs) who ran up an age group to form a team with Flynn H (12yrs). It was wonderful to see them enjoy the challenge. Meanwhile, the 12yrs girls’ team of Emily B, Dahlia N, and Nethuli V (11yrs) also gave a fantastic effort and made the most of the day.
A special shoutout goes to our talented trio of 9-year-old boys—Harry P, Giam V, and Oliver B—who ran a remarkable race to finish 2nd in a highly competitive field. What an achievement!
Well done to all students who took part—you represented our school proudly and showed great resilience and teamwork on the day.

Environment Club
What a great term our environment club has had! Our numbers have been growing, with many more young environmental enthusiasts joining us in our club time.
We made clay turtles and painted them for World Environment Day and took part in the Birds in Backyards winter survey last week.
Many students have enjoyed wearing the green high-vis vests and using the garbage ‘grabbers’ to pick up litter. We are very happy to have our new signage on our bins to help everyone sort their rubbish. Many thanks go to Mrs Franks in the office for organising this. She was able to pay for the signs with the money earned through the ‘Containers for change’ program we run.
Did you know that our school recycles pens, felt tipped pens and whiteboard markers? The giant texta just inside the library door is our collection point and when it is full, the contents are taken to Officeworks for recycling. If you would like to send in any of these items from home, please feel free to do so.

Dear Kenmore South families,
Wow – how is it already Week 10 of Term 2? This year is absolutely flying by, and what a fun-filled term it's been so far! From exciting school events to community moments, it's been a joy to see our students smiling and making wonderful memories.
As we look ahead to the rest of the year, there’s still so much to look forward to, including:

If you’d like to get involved in helping organise or run any of these events, we’d love to hear from you. It brings us so much joy to see our students take part in these special activities – and none of it would be possible without the amazing support of our parent community.

Farewell and Thank You to Our P&C President
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our P&C President, Clint Quinlivan, who will be stepping down from his role due to health reasons and to focus on completing his studies.
Although Clint’s time as President has been short, his energy, commitment, and genuine care for our school community have made a big impact. From leading with integrity to supporting key initiatives, his contribution to the P&C has been deeply appreciated.
On behalf of the entire P&C Executive and school community—thank you, Clint. We wish you all the very best for your health, studies, and what comes next!
We will be opening up the position of President and will hold a vote at our next P&C meeting, scheduled for August. We encourage any interested members of the school community to consider nominating.

Help Us Make the Colour FUN RUN a Success!
Your child should have received a Colour Fun Run information pack in their bag this week – make sure to check!
We’re excited to be holding this year’s Colour Fun Run on Tuesday 12 August – a vibrant, energetic event our students always look forward to. This year, the P&C has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $20,000!
If every student raises just $30, our Monster Fun Run partner will reward the school with a foam machine to use on the day – adding even more excitement to the event!
To make the day a success, we’re calling on our wonderful parent community. The P&C is looking for volunteers to help with planning, setup, and support during the event. If you can lend a hand, please sign up here: volunteersignup.org/99BMD
Thank you for your support – events like these wouldn’t be possible without you!
Voluntary Donations Now Available on Qkr!
Now on Qkr! — Voluntary donations can be made directly through the app, and every contribution makes a real difference!
These funds help keep vital parts of our school community running — like the tuck shop and uniform shop — and support the employment of our amazing staff who work hard to make these services possible.
We know not everyone can give a lot, but even a small donation helps ensure these services continue for our students — your children. It’s all for them, and every dollar counts.
To donate, simply open the Qkr! app, find our school, and select “Voluntary Donation”. Thank you for your kindness and continued support!
P&C Meetings
Our General P&C Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, starting promptly at 7:00pm in the school staffroom.

KSSS Community Care Group – Call for Volunteers
Our KSSS Community Care Group is made up of dedicated parent volunteers who offer practical support to families in times of need. Over the years, the group has delivered home-cooked meals, provided transport to and from school, helped with light gardening and moving, and more.
We warmly welcome all parents who are willing to lend a hand.
Right now, we are seeking extra volunteers to help provide meals for a few weeks to support a school family facing ill health and undergoing surgery. Support is especially needed during the school holidays while the family navigates this challenging time.
This is a meaningful way to support our KSSS community—every little bit helps.
If you’re able to volunteer your time, please get in touch: dko10@eq.edu.au
If your own family is in need of support, the Community Care Group is also here for you. Our volunteers can assist with practical needs like meal deliveries, school pickups and drop-offs, friendly check-ins, or simply being someone to talk to.
Thank you for helping us make KSSS a caring and connected community. Together, we can make a real difference.
