Spotlight on Academics
At Kenmore South we endeavour to cater to the whole child, with an understanding that each student comes with their own unique strengths and talents. This week we are placing a spotlight on the academic nature of our school and an area in which we pride ourselves, and that is with our students’ academic results. Recently we shared the 2025 NAPLAN results with our Years 3 and 5 students and families. Overall the students performed very well. Particularly pleasing is the number of students achieving in the ‘Exceeding’ category which is the highest of the four NAPLAN categories. Please see below for our results in 2025 in each of the five NAPLAN areas. You may notice that we are one of the top ten schools in all areas in years 3 and 5, except for year 3 writing, and in the top 10 schools in the state for all areas in Year 5, and amongst top schools in the state for Year 3.

Camps Feedback
We are seeking feedback surrounding the camps we offer for our Year 6 students at Kenmore South. Over the past few years, we have greater numbers of students not able to attend due to financial and other reasons. We would like to consider a south-east Queensland Year 6 camp as an alternative option and are gathering thoughts on this proposal. Please complete this short survey to indicate your views:

Junior Years Deputy Principal News - Andrew Sellick
Dear Kenmore South families,
We are looking forward to our Book Week Parade this Friday! This year’s theme is ‘Book an Adventure’ a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their favourite characters and stories in creative costumes.
A reminder that our Prep interviews for 2026 will begin in Week 10 of this term. Families should have received an email two weeks ago with a booking link to schedule an interview time with a member of our leadership team. If you haven’t already, please check your emails and secure a spot. I will be re-sending this link to all families this week.
Next week, our Prep students will take part in Hearing Day, where they will have their hearing screened using the interactive app, Sound Scouts. This app is a fun and engaging way to test both hearing and auditory processing in children. Two of our trained Prep Aides will be administering the hearing screens, and our Prep teachers have been busy preparing students this week so they feel comfortable and familiar with the process. Further information and consent forms were sent to Prep parents via QParents earlier this week.
We are also excited about our upcoming Arts Fair at the end of the term. Students are encouraged to enter one (or more) of the four art categories on offer. To help build the excitement, we will be sharing weekly updates on Facebook in the lead-up to Arts Week. If your child is planning to enter the Arts Fair competition, please keep an eye on these posts for updates and inspiration.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making these special events a success. We look forward to celebrating together as a community!
Kind regards,
Andrew

Ruth Hits the Mark … Again!
Archery star Ruth C has added another incredible achievement to her growing list of successes. Last Wednesday she set a new state record in the “Geelong” round — a demanding event of 90 arrows at 30 metres. Out of a possible 900 points, Ruth scored an amazing 895, with 85 arrows in the 10 ring and just five in the 9 ring. Her result surpassed the previous record of 877, which had stood for an impressive 17 years. Maintaining that level of accuracy and concentration over the two-and-a-half-hour shoot is a feat in itself!
Over the weekend, Ruth also tested herself in the Under 18 round at 50 metres on a smaller target face. While this outing didn’t bring another record, her score was strong enough that, had she produced it earlier in the year, she would have qualified for the Australian team currently competing at the World Youth Championships in Canada.
Ruth’s dedication to her sport, coupled with her ability to perform under pressure, is truly inspiring. We are so proud of her achievements and excited to see where her talent will take her next.
Student Success in the Run2Cure
Giam from 3D had a great performance running the Run2Cure event on the 10th of August. Giam had a time of 22:58 for the 5k, placing 8th overall. Additionally, Giam was the 7th male and was 1st in the under 12 category! Great work Giam, what a fantastic achievement.

Chappy News

Thursday 11th September is R U OK? Day, a national day that reminds us to check in with others and start meaningful conversations. To mark the occasion, we’ll be holding a Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser before school at The Lookout. All proceeds will go towards supporting our school’s Chaplaincy Program.
Volunteers Needed!
If you are available to help with cooking or serving on the morning, we’d love your support. Please contact Denise dko10@eq.edu.au if you can lend a hand. Come along, grab a snag, and take a moment to ask someone, “R U OK?” Because a conversation could change a life.

KSSS Community Care Group – Call for Volunteers
Our KSSS Community Care Group is made up of dedicated parent volunteers who offer practical support to families in times of need. Over the years, the group has delivered home-cooked meals, provided transport to and from school, helped with light gardening and moving, and more. We warmly welcome all parents who are willing to lend a hand.
Right now, we are seeking extra volunteers to help provide meals for a few weeks to support a school family facing health challenges. Support is especially needed during these few weeks while the family navigates this challenging time. This is a meaningful way to support our KSSS community—every little bit helps.
If you’re able to volunteer your time, please get in touch: dko10@eq.edu.au
If your own family is in need of support, the Community Care Group is also here for you. Our volunteers can assist with practical needs like meal deliveries, school pickups and drop-offs, friendly check-ins, or simply being someone to talk to. Thank you for helping us make KSSS a caring and connected community. Together, we can make a real difference.

Parents & Carers Coffee Morning
Come along to our friendly and relaxed weekly catch-up — a great chance to connect, chat, and share a cuppa with other parents, carers, and families in our school community.

Office News - Statements Information
Debtor Statements/Outstanding Fees/Credit Adjustments
Twice a term our Accounts Receivable Officers generate the “Debtor Statement”. You will receive a Debtor Statement if there are any fees on your student’s account or if there are any credits on your student’s account. If there are not any fees due or credits applied to your student’s account, you will not receive a Debtor Statement.
Fees that are due for payment are indicated by a positive amount on the Statement.
A credit on the student’s account is indicated by a negative amount on the Statement. Credits can be applied to any fees that are due for payment.
How to Make a Payment
Payments can be made by BPoint, QParents or over the counter with EFTPOS (Debit Card, MasterCard or Visa). BPOINT and QParents options allow parents/carers the convenience of making payments from home and alleviates the need to pay over the counter in person. More information can be found on the QParents website.
BPOINT is an online payment system and is the preferred payment method for the Department.
This option is accessed through an internet weblink www.bpoint.com.au/payments/dete which appears on all invoices and statements. You will need the Customer Reference Number (CRN) which is printed on the bottom of your invoice/statement before payment can be processed.
When accessing the BPOINT weblink on individual invoices, all relevant information will pre-populate. Parents/carers will only be required to enter their credit or debit card details.
Since 2018 schools are no longer able to accept credit card payments over the phone.
QKR
Parents/carers have the ability to order online for the Tuckshop and Uniform Shoo and pay for non-invoiced items via QKR!
Qkr (pronounced ‘quicker’) by MasterCard application is a secure and easy way to make school payments at your convenience. We encourage all parents/carers to use Qkr as it reduces the need to send cash to school or attend in person, and receipts are automatically generated that can be easily retrieved on the app or sent to your email. Apart from making life easier for families, it also significantly streamlines operations with the school.
What can be ordered and paid for via Qkr?
- Online Tuckshop orders
- Fundraisers
- Event tickets
The Qkr app can be downloaded for free from Apple’s app store for iPhones (iPads to download iPhone version) or from Google Play for Android phones and tablets.
The Qkr ‘How-to’ Guide (which can be found on the School’s website https://kenmoresouthss.eq.edu.au/SupportAndResources/FormsAndDocuments/Documents/P%20and%20C/Qkr%20Parents%20How%20to%20Guide.pdf#search=Qkr
This guide illustrates how to download the app, register yourself and your children, and pay for a variety of school items. Any questions, please email our admin team at admin@kenmoresouthss.eq.edu.au
